To celebrate Style MILK’s 100th post I would like to share my Son Rocco’s Style. I have recently come to the realisation that my son has a better wardrobe than me at the moment. I do admit I have a shopping addiction and LOVE  to buy clothing for him. I get so excited to see all the Lookbooks sent to me by Kids designers (actually my husband would say it is not a good thing to have access to the loobooks…well not good for our bank account that is). To me I believe dressing up and role play is important… It fosters imagination and promotes creativity in children- Rocco LOVES his Where the Wild things are Max costume (as pictured above)

Khali from the blog Little LOVELY recently asked if I would share a whole weeks worth of my son’s style and she posted the feature yesterday. My Son’s style is a mixture  of contemporary ‘hip’ with a touch of classic. Would you agree… please do have a look and let me know if you love his outfits as much as I do.

It comes as no surprise that Kenzie (the daughter of Rachelle the Editor behind Kenzie Poo blog and La Petite magazine) would be absolutely a ‘lil’ Stylista!!! She loves designer clothing especially AUSTRALIAN Kids Designers such as Itch and Mini Envy (read below)

After having recently styled a shoot in which we used Mini Rodini…I am absolutely obsessed with this label and was so excited to see the pictures Rachelle sent me of Kenzie wearing a Mini Rodini Top (see first shot).

This week I present a vintage dress that I bought last year from Ramona West Vintage! I always loved these photos and even though I recently resold the dress I wanted to show the photos again because I love how Vintage can look so cool!  It may be due to the shape of the dress, combination of the prints and the shoes worn by the model but the whole look reminds me of the 2007 Balenciaga Spring collection.

Karen Walker has been one of my favourite designers for well over 10 years now! I even remember loving her designs from way back in my mid- late teens when I first started buying my own clothes for myself! I remember all the hype surrounding the Karen Walker pants that Madonna wore (I think at the MTV awards?) and how they apparently sold out within hours of being stocked! “Karen Walker collections are high casual with one foot in tailoring and the other in street wear” (as written on her website). This definitely sums up this New Zealand designer perfectly!!!

The first Karen Walker piece I ever bought was an amazing black jumper which I still have today. It has a very plunging neckline both on the front and back of the garment. I still have the jumper in my cupboard and would be atleast 10 years old. However Karen Walker is one of those amazing designers whose foresight in design would mean the piece would never date! I can still wear the jumper today and look stylish!

Today I am presenting one of my Karen Walker dresses (from THE BELIEVERS collection) I purchased on my birthday last year! It is a special buy because I had just had my son and hadn’t bought anything for myself all year and my husband kindly arranged with my friend who owns a boutique to go on a shopping spree and choose anything I wanted.  I literally couldn’t buy anything for at least a good hour!!! I had become a mum who could not spend on myself only my son.Funny how before I had a son I never used to blink at spending so much money on clothing. But when I became a mum I couldn’t even spend a cent on me let alone a couple of hundred on a dress. Anyway in the end I bought this dress, another Karen Walker top and a top by french label BA& SH. It was a very special birthday!!! Thanks Todd x

I am so inspired by ‘real style’ and I know the whole world is too….just look at how popular blogs such as ‘The Satoralist‘ and ‘Jak and Jil‘ are. You can see how fashion today is becoming more and more influenced by ‘street style’. As Chanel once said ‘Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening’.

This week I am so proud to present Rachelle’s style! She is the creator behind Kenzie Poo and La Petite Magazine as well as mother to the gorgeous Kenzington! Even though Rachelle lives on the other side of the world, she has become such a great friend and supporter of Style MILK.  She has also guest posted on Style MILK before. Rachelle is very well known for her amazing ‘Turn this Room into an Outfit’ series. From her work alone I knew that she would be one stylish person. And as you can all see Rachelle has STYLE….AMAZING STYLE:

Finally a reason to justify all those purchases: My Style MONDAY posts! I am really enjoying sharing my style. I love fashion so very much I honestly feel as if I collect fashion ‘pieces’ like art! So this series is almost like sharing my collection…my art collection! Last week I shared my Lover The Label Cape and this week I couldn’t resist sharing another Lover item- My Patty Dress. I am sure this dress is from the Black Rose Army Collection. For some reason I actually feel as if I am wearing ‘Paris’ it has a parisian type of style about it…maybe it is the stripes. I love the tan detail buttons!

I am also sharing my Chloe Platforms I bought from Net-A-Porter!!! They are extremely high but look amazing and go so well with the Patty Dress! I recently wore the Chloe shoes for a Peekaboo Magazine shoot in which my family was featured! Reflecting back on the shoot it is quite funny how I wore such high heels being photographed with my son! They are definitely not my usual ‘Mummy’ shoes that I wear everyday…more for special occasions! Like most women I L O V E shoes….I would love to know about any amazing shoe purchases/collections people have…so please leave a comment below if you would like to share!!! Until next week x
